I’ve got two lots of crocosmia that are now flowering
There are a few self-seeded cosmos including this white one, which is the variety Purity. I prefer these to the coloured ones.
There are three different gladioli with lilac & white, pink & cream and yellow.
The colourful nasturtiums include various shades of orange, red and yellow. Among them is a salmon pink one and another that’s velvety dark red.
The downside to growing lots of pot marigolds is that I’m having to dead head them otherwise if I leave them to self seed there would be even more next year .
It’s good to see that these, and other, flowers are providing lots of summer smiles.

I agree with you cosmos purity is nicer than the coloured variants nice cheerful post for a change Mike, have a good weekend, we have the Vulcan bomber coming over on Saturday for the Eastbourne air show should be good if the weather holds up.

Lovely flowers Flighty – I have the red crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ which stands out like a sore thumb in my mainly pastel coloured garden. – it does put on a good show though.

Loving all the flowers, Flighty. I have a whole patch of calendulas that are self sown. I would have pulled them out earlier but other plants haven’t made it through the wet so I left them. Will have to try and keep on top of them this year though, before they take over the plot.

This post made me growl. Even for all your variable weather, (ours as well) you’ve got flowering plants , whereas mine are struggling to leaf, in the case of the Nasturtiums, and my one Crocosmia – I planted several – has leaves and …..well, just leaves.
We noticed on a walk, that the majority of the soft fruits bushes are just flowering. They probably won’t have time to fruit.

I’m sure that if you get a couple of weeks of good, sunny weather you’ll see some flowers, and some soft fruit as well. Fingers crosses. xx

Like you, Flighty, my few flowers are making me smile. So much so that I’ve decided, starting next year, to gradually make my veg garden into more of a cottage flower garden with a few veg tucked in between. I’m hoping for a riot of colour next year!!

Mmm, lovely – ‘Purity’ is my favourite cosmos, though I tend to have problems getting it to flower before September. Maybe it will be different here.

Janet the ones I seeded this year didn’t germinate, or more likely the seed got washed away in one of the numerous heavy downpours. It flowers late here as well but does continue right through to the first frosts. xx
