With all the rain…

there has been recently the plot has become too soggy to do hardly any plotting except to clear away the cosmos and sunflowers.   Yesterday morning was noticeably cold and surprisingly misty.

As you can see the dogwood leaves are changing colour and dropping which will expose the new growth reddish-brown stems, and the white aster is still twinkling.

The sedum/ice plant leaves are also changing colour, from green to yellow, with the flower heads turning as well.

Several weeks ago I was given some crocus Blue Pearl corms which I planted in the stone feature as I couldn’t decide where to put them.  The wire mesh is stop foxes and squirrels digging them up, and will be removed once the leaves start to appear.  I will probably replant them elsewhere next autumn.

There’s more rain due tonight but thankfully the rest of the week looks like remaining dry so hopefully I’ll be able to clear the rest of the now finished annual flowers.

Have a good week!

  1. It does look beautiful out there in the mist, although I know it makes any plotting hard work. Glorious sun here today. I should have cut the grass and cleared up leaves, but somehow I didn’t get round to it. Have a good week Flighty. CJ xx

  2. You can certainly see the season changing in your photos. Good idea to cover the crocus bulbs with wire mesh.
It’s lovely here today but we’re expecting an Arctic blast on Tuesday.

  3. Let’s hope you get to do all you want to do this week!

( If only we have the rain that you had. It’s always cloudy here but no rain! )

    Thanks and same to you!

  4. Yes, there’s certainly been a lot of rain, especially here in Yorkshire with lots of flooding in different parts of the county. That first photo certainly shows that winter is on the way.
