being mostly damp and dull with no sunshine. I briefly looked round the still soggy plot after lunch on Tuesday and again Friday morning.
The daffodils have already mostly finished but thankfully the tulips are now providing some welcome colour.
At home all the tomato seeds that I sowed a week ago yesterday have germinated and appeared. I sowed single seeds in 3 1/2″ round pots, which shouldn’t need repotting before I plant out hopefully towards the end of May. The various cosmos and sunflower seeds I sowed individually in 3″ square pots last Monday have also started appearing.
Next week looks like being dry, sunny and warm with temperatures reaching 20C/68F by Wednesday which will be most welcome as I should be able to start planting and sowing at long last. It’ll be a busy plotting week if I can.
Have a good week!
It shows how the seasons are different in our two places. Daffodils are now coming into their own but tulips not open yet.

Ooh…lots to look forward to.Question: do you use tweezers of some other fine tool to successfully sew single seeds? It sounds like you have a steady hand. xx

Menhir there sure is. I usually use my fingers, or if very fine seeds the tip of a small knife. Not always! xx

The tulips are fantastic. I’m looking forward to next week’s warm weather. Lovely yesterday, so I mowed the lawn and emptied the compost bin. Back to cold and damp today though! I hope it’s nice and sunny next week so we can all get out and enjoy it. CJ xx

Love those stunning tulips! And all the annual flowers! Looking forward to seeing them bloom in weeks or months. I especially love Cosmos sulphureus. They grow easily and are very beautiful. I’m not sure what species or varieties are yours but I think I would love them all the same. Good luck with your plotting this week!

Jade I’m glad you like them. I grow lots of annual flowers, mostly sown direct on the plot. I grow cosmos bipinnatus varrieties. Thanks, I got off to a good start this morning. xx

Our daffodils are just in flower, they are running late, they are usually spent by 21st April, the day the swallows usually arrive.

Uphilldowndale I’m not surprised. I hope the swallows arrive on time. xx

Your title had me worried that the weather was going to be uncooperative — but perhaps you got some solid plotting done. Every time I’m out watering, I reach down and pull up a pile of weeds. Time to do something about them!

Nikki the weather has been ideal for plotting this week. There are plenty of weeds here as well. It certainly is. xx
