On the windowsill, August 2022

The dwarf sunflower Bambino was flowering for most of this month but sadly has now started dying back.  It ended up around 16 in/40 cm tall with a small single flower that was 3 in/7.5 cm dia, and I was pleased to see that it retained all the leaves.  I grew this plant in a tall 5in/12.5 cm pot and it’ll be interesting to see how deep the root does when I empty it out.

I will certainly try growing one of these again next year.

Further to my last On the windowsill post I didn’t sow another dwarf sunflower Pacino Gold seed, and will now wait until next year.  There’s really nothing worthwhile mentioning about the other plants at the moment so I’ll leave it until next month.

Have a good weekend, and take care!

    1. The in-laws have had a small cluster of dwarf Sunflowers in a sheltered part of their garden. They were happy looking blooms. My guess is, their protected situation allowed them to grow relatively unhindered by our climate. I did ask about the variety, but the in-laws couldn’t remember. Xxx

      1. Menhir that’s the ideal place for various annual flowers such as sunflowers, especially if it’s sunny as well. Shame they couldn’t remember the variety. xx

  1. It’s a beauty and would certainly make me smile if it was on my windowsill, they’re such cheerful plants. It’s done really well flowering for all that time.
