The pot marigolds…

Flighty’s favourites are doing brilliantly this year and there are lots of them in a full range of colours and combinations.  Most of them are on the flower patch with smaller groups under the the dogwood, next to the blackberry bush and by the shed.

I had a good look at them all the morning trying to spot any that look slightly different, or have light centres as most are dark.  I also collected a few seed heads to sort and save.

The picture above left shows a Snow Princess plant and illustrates how variable the colour is of the creamy-white flowers which are more often a very pale lemon yellow.

Take care, and have a good week!

  1. This is so frustrating. They look wonderful, really pretty and bright. But mine are getting no-where. They just don’t grow. A cat walking on them doesn’t help but I can’t blame him for the whole staticness of them. I’ll sow some more in the autumn and see if overwintered ones do better than spring sown for me. To some degree it must be the weather. I’ve had quite a few seeds this year which germinated, grew a little then stopped. Didn’t die. Just stopped. Then flopped.
It’s a pleasure to see yours in the photos though.

Lucy it’s a shame that yours have got nowhere. I hope that the next sowing does better. Thanks that’s nice to know. I’ll be happy to send more seed later in the year that I’m about to start saving and sorting. Take care. xx

Gosh, they are doing brilliantly this year aren’t they. Lovely to see so many colour combinations, it makes a change from seeing a whole patch the same colour. Hopefully they’ll be flowering for many weeks to come. CJ xx

Your plot must be so welcoming with all that colour. It’s hard to choose a favourite, I do love the zingy colours but then the muted ones call to me too. Best just to grow a selection as you do. Thank you so much for all the kind comments you have left on recent posts, having such wonderful blog friends is a comfort when times are sad or trying and I can’t tell you how much your comments have helped.

    • Flighty says:

Jo it sure is. I think that my favourites are the yellow/’white’ ones. I agree.
You’re most welcome, I wholeheartedly agree with what you say about blog friends and that’s nice to know. xx
