The Christmas party

I had a quick look round the plot this morning but it’s a dismal day so I didn’t linger.  I then went on to the horticultural society trading shed for the Christmas party.

There was plenty of food and drink consumed whilst members chatted, and it’s always good to see people who I don’t see much during the year.

I won a box of Liquorice Allsorts in the raffle.

I remember my dad liked and bought these most weeks but it’s been a long time since I last had any, and I do wonder if they’ll be as good as they used to be.

All too soon it was time to finish up and come home.

I’ll be back at the trading shed on Wednesday morning to help with the annual stock-take, then won’t be there again until  7th January as it’s closed for two weeks.  My first official on duty morning isn’t until the 28th by which time we should have taken delivery of onion sets and seed potatoes.  That really does herald the start of the new season.

Have a good week!

I remember Liquorice Allsorts, but it’s been years since I ate them. Hope they live up to your memories.
Unbelievable to think you’ll be getting onion sets and seed potatoes in about three weeks!
We should have some time for sofa reading in the meantime. Happy Christmas, Mike!

Liz I tried some and they’re okay but I won’t bother buying them.
I agree, it seems to have come round quicker than ever.
We should indeed. Many thanks, and to you too. xx

I love Liquorice Allsorts, I hope they turn out to be as you remember them. It’s the beginning of a new growing season when the onion sets and seed potatoes arrive, it’ll be seed sowing time again before we know it.

Sounds delightful, with extra perk of providing special memories. Nice one.

Thanks for your e-card. It is a sweet little card and pulls together the threads of your regular feathered visitor on the plot.

Happy holidays to you and hope you have a peaceful and restful 2018.

Menhir sweets, and biscuits, always trigger memories of dad as he liked both.
You’re most welcome, and I’m glad you liked it.
Many thanks, and I hope that you do too. xx

Only my mom likes black licorice in our family. Don’t eat more than 2 ounces per day — I understand the glycyrrhizin can cause arrhythmia. I’m sure you’ll make use of the dreary days by cozying up to a book and some tasty snack.

I love that there’s an allotment Christmas party. You’re right, it won’t be long until it’s time to start thinking about next year’s planting. I was just looking at my garlic earlier, which has started to shoot. Onwards and upwards.Have a good week Flighty, and enjoy those Liquorice Allsorts. CJ xx

  8. My dad still loves them but I prefer my liquorice straight. Enjoy the break

  9. Christina says:

I love Allsorts I haven’t had them in years either. Enjoy your prize! My onion sets have been in for a while and are growing already.

  10. There is something very comforting about it all starting over again, you have a good one too x

Your party sounded fun! Love your prize, although I’m not much of a sweet person. Struth….it’s all about to begin again, onions and potatoes already! Hope your weather improves, it’s still grim

  12. Berty Basset says stay warm until spring! X

  13. Enjoy your Allsorts!
    Happy Christmas Wishes

    All the best Jan
