So far, pretty good

Looking round this morning I’m well pleased with just about everything that I’m growing this year.

Further to Thursday’s post the knee-high cornflowers Polka Dot colours include blue, lavender, maroon, pink, red, rose and white.

All the sweet corn plants are doing well, and I hope that I end up with plenty of cobs.

I’ve eight tomato plants all of which now have flowers on them.  One was given to me and is an unknown variety that produces very dark, aubergine coloured, fruit. The leaves and stems are noticeably darker than the others.

I hand lifted the first few first early potatoes Pentland Javelin and Red Duke of York even though the foliage hasn’t yet started dying back.  The four shown here are about large egg sized.

It looks like being another mostly dry and sunny week ahead, but thankfully cooler and fresher than recently,  so hopefully I’ll be plotting most mornings.

Have a good week!

  1. Beautiful, I love the colours of your cornflowers. My tomatoes, Ailsa Craig and Shirley, have flowers too. I recently got a greenhouse, and these are the first I have grown in it! Have a good week. Susie

  2. Love that first photo, the cornflowers are so pretty. Really great tomatoes as well. Mine are looking absolutely dreadful this year, I’ll be lucky to get any tomatoes at all I think. I think I probably started them off too early, and the soil is really poor as well. Hope you have a good week. CJ xx

  3. Harvesting potatoes already….that’s a fast growing season. The Cornflowers are a sheer delight. I, too, hope you’ll have a good showing of cobs to use, and a good crop of tomatoes. xxx

    1. Menhir if there hadn’t been a frost in late April I may well have lifted some a couple of weeks ago. Thanks, I’m amazed at how well they’re both growing. xx

      1. Our potatoes, admittedly planted a little later than yours, managed to start flowering a week or so ago. I shall be interested to see how the plants look when I get back from my wee travels. xx
