A few (on-line) friends have been unwell lately and two of the them have been, or still are, in hospital so I felt that they would all appreciate some Sunday smiles.
This year in the long planter I’ve grown Candytuft (Iberis umbellata) Fairy Mixed which I was expecting to flower in a range cheerful bright colours but as you can see they’re virtually all white.
Never mind they are pretty.
I always grow nasturtiums (tropaeolum majus) which I leave to self-seed every year. There aren’t as many as usual but among the bright orange, red and yellow ones are these nice creamy-yellow ones.
I mentioned the cosmos Velouette last week and here’s a picture showing the mix of colours and contrasting patterns on the lovely red and white flowers.
I hope that anyone who hasn’t been too good recently feels better soon.
Have a good week!
Lovely flowers!
I thought all my mixed Sweetpeas were going to be creamy-white. Had a whole week or two of just white ones… Now all the colours have arrived, with the darkest red bring last to appear.
So, fingers-crossed, it might happen yet with your candytuft?!

Judy thanks. Your sweetpeas sound lovely. It might, but I’m not hopeful. xx

Lovely sentiments, Flighty. I haven’t grown any cosmos this year and I’m missing it.

Matt thanks. That’s a shame, and I’m not surprised. They’re a flower I grow every year. Cheers.

Hi Flighty, love that creamy yellow nasturtium! No candytuft for us this year as the seeds failed to do anything.

Lovely flowers. I had a surprise this year with my Cosmos “Purity” seeds, which I bought because my neighbour had such a beautiful drift of white flowers last year. They’re all red and pink! I have dropped Thompson & Morgan a line or two. I hope all is well with your friends soon, no doubt they will appreciate your lovely flowers. CJ xx

CJ I’m glad you like them. Oh dear, that’s annoying when that happens. I think that they should send you some ‘Purity’ seeds. Thanks, both are now home and starting to feel better. xx

I hope your friends are feeling better soon. That nasturtium is really pretty, such a change from the garish colours you usually see them in, and I like the colour mix of the cosmos, some of those flowers look almost painted.

Jo thanks, both are getting better thankfully. I agree about the nasturtium colour and cosmos. xx

What a nice gesture! And what pretty flowers. There’s nothing like a bouquet from the garden to lift the spirits. Hope those who are under the weather get well soon and everyone else stays in good health.

Liz thanks, on both counts. I couldn’t agree more. Let’s hope so. xx
