The season’s end

A last yellow pot marigoldEarlier this week saw some very unsettled weather with heavy rain and high winds. Yesterday morning was calm and clear so I took a look round the plot to make sure that all was okay, which it was thankfully.

The forecast is for much colder weather from Saturday onwards with low temperatures , feeling like 0 degrees C in the strong wind, and maybe even some sleet.

I guess that really will finish off the remaining flowers and herald the season’s end.

Have a good weekend!

Marigolds have been very resilient, ours were much as such, though only a few retained healthy green leaves and stalks. Like you, we await the very last floral show of the year. xxx

All the annuals have been cleared out of my garden now although the allotment still needs some attention. The tayberry in the garden was blown over in a gust of wind the other day. I haven’t braved it out there yet to put it back up. Maybe Saturday, I hear the sun might be shining. CJ xx

I don’t think we can complain really this year, we’ve had a very mild autumn and the season’s hung on much longer than usual. I’m not looking forward to the cold weather though.

It’s much the same here in the upper South US. A few remaining Indian summer days and forecast for sleet and plunging temps this weekend. Enjoy rays of sun!

Yes, it certainly doesn’t feel like gardening weather any more!

  7. Yes, the season has come to an end…but that just means we’re one day closer to spring!

It does seem to be all over now doesn’t it? We have been bombarded by wind and rain and it’s certainly a lot colder now. Time to get the book and catalogs out!xxx

Soon, you’ll be strictly sofa-plotting with catalogues and biscuits and tea 😉 I thought we’d be heading straight-away for cooler temps, but we’re headed back up to high 80s (F) this weekend. I’ve ordered some plants (during a moment of delusion, I’m sure) and need to get them settled this weekend.

That blast of cold was a bit of a shock to the system. We were visiting family in the north east and had snow. I’m glad we’d packed our winter woollies. 😉 xx
