Tree Following, June 2015 – Liz’s Stewartia

Mother’s Day here in the USA is during May, unlike Mothering Sunday in the UK which is the fourth Sunday of Lent during March.

And so it was on a lovely day in May I fell for the Stewartia then in full bloom and was blessed with it as a Mother’s Day gift. However the beauty of it, at least of the flowers, is sadly rather fleeting I find, as they come and are gone in little over a week.

These pictures perfectly illustrate how I succumbed to it’s come hither looks! This is it’s fifteen minutes of fame for this year.

See Lucy’s Tree Following post for details of what it’s all about, and this one for links to other Tree Following posts for this month.

My thanks to Mike for letting me guest post, and to Lucy for hosting Tree Following.

It’s absolutely beautiful, even if it’s only a fleeting moment. I used to have a wonderful climbing rose, Albertine, and it flowered for just two weeks. But those two weeks were sensational. CJ xx

  2. Jo says:

It’s beautiful, even though short lived. That short time in May must be anticipated each year making it a very special moment when it does bloom.

  3. nikkipolani says:

There are the blooms, in their (brief) glory! But the tree is more than its blooms — pretty fall colors and interesting bark too. Well chosen, Liz.

  4. Very pretty. A Proverb states that “charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting”. How fitting!

  5. snowbird says:

How pretty it is, always something to look forward to!xxx

  6. Chloris says:

Beautiful. You don’ t often see Stewartias. They have such pretty flowers. I love your Nigella header Flighty.

  7. Flighty says:

Lovely! As well as this short lived beauty I’m looking forward to the changes later in the year as well. xx

    • Liz says:

I’ll have to really do proper tree-following as Nikkipolani points out! Thanks, Mike, for posting my fleeting beauty. Liz
