What a difference!

Frosted nasturtiumsLast week it was sunny and warm with temperatures well into double figures. Since then there has been plenty of rain, temperatures have dipped into single figures and this morning it was frosty so it came as no surprise to find that the nasturtiums (see left), and dahlias on neighbouring plots, had been finished off.

A poached egg plant flower in November!Yesterday I was really surprised to see this rather soggy poached egg plant (limnanthes douglasii) flower as they normally appear in the spring!

The crocosmia leaves are only just starting to die back but still look good.

Crocosmia leavesThe forecast for the next few days is for plenty  more rain, but hopefully next week I’ll be able to finish tidying up before winding down for a break over the winter.

Have a good weekend!

    Same here: first frost today.

Yes the season is changing fast but we knew the good spell wouldn’t last forever.

I haven’t managed to get to the plot much at all – so much to do, but it’s been so wet. I need a good dry spell before winter sets in. CJ xx

Well, you’ve had a productive and colorful season (even that poached egg bloom sneaking in for a last showing). If you’ve any extra rain, do push some our way, please!

  5. No frost here yet, but crocosmia looking a lot flatter thanks to raging winds and torrential rain.

Cold, rainy and frosty here too this week. We’re in to November though now so it’s only to be expected. It’s been nice to have some mild weather while it lasted though.

That’s funny, no frost here yet. I always thought London was warmer. Still it won’t be long, I suppose. Let’s hope we get a good weekend. There’s still lots to do here.

Everything seems a little confused at the moment, I have iris bulbs shooting up but to date we are frost free.xxx

Still no frost here but lots of rain. It’s all very soggy. Hopefully tomorrow will be dry, it’s my birthday on Monday so I’m hoping we might get a nice walk somewhere. Think I’ll need my wellies though – it’s a tad muddy around and about. I love that poached egg flower. They seem quite hardy little plants. I still haven’t got round to growing any. One day …. xx
