It’s been a good year

I hadn’t been to the plot since Sunday so despite it being cold and windy I took a quick stroll round this morning.

December pot marigoldThe dustbin lid pond was iced over, as was the nearby water tank. Not surprisingly it’s now all looking rather bare and bleak but there are still a few pot marigolds flowering.

So is the rose Pretty Lady

Rose 'Pretty Lady' in DecemberBoth of these started flowering back in early June and have been blooming almost continuously since then.

Red dogwood stemsThe blackthorn and hawthorn have now lost their leaves, and the stems on the dogwood are showing cherry red.

It’s been a good year, thankfully making up for last year, and let’s hope that next season will be even better for all of us.

Tuesday’s Sofa flying post Happiness Is is much more appropriate for the time of year.

Have a good weekend!

It has been a good year, I’m hoping for more of the same next year. I’ve still got pot marigolds flowering too, they’ve done so well.

  2. Joanne says:

I still have pot marigolds in the front garden. Lets hope next year will give us decent enough growing weather again.

I am delighted by the amount of foliage and flowering you still have, so late on. Amazing! As I write, we’re storm torn and have battened down the hatches. 🙂 xx

I still have pot marigolds out.. giving a welcome splash of colour in the garden. I also have a climbing rose that has decided to put out a new bloom and a bud.. Looking forward to spring and starting all over again.. 🙂
Very windy here today and there are local flood alerts.. x

Marigolds are just brilliant for how they last cheering up even the dreariest of days. Let’s hope next year is even better than this – fingers crossed.

  7. I’m glad you have had a good year Flighty, and how wonderful to have roses as well as marigolds still blooming. I still have a patch of “Flighty’s Mix” flowering away in my back garden.

Wow, that rose is beautiful. And it looks so unbattered. What an amazingly long flowering period. Wonderful.

So lovely to see that Pretty Lady Rose still blooming ~ it’s beautiful. Also your pot marigolds are winners ~ Sounds like your dustbin lid pond and my bird feeder are about the same ~ frozen! It’s amazing what does survive and I see signs of spring even now.

I’m amazed that your rose is still blooming. Such gentle color. We’ve been getting a bit of frost overnight as well but not much rain yet.

It has been a good one, considering it started off so unpromisingly. It’s been so mild here that I have to remind myself it’s December. Looks like your rose and calendula need reminding too. 😉 Have a good weekend. x
