It’s not quite…

just another day as it’s my birthday. Don’t tell anyone but I’m now 66! I don’t really celebrate it in reality apart from a couple of cards and a phone call this evening.

On-line it’s a different matter as there’s Glo’s delightful post Happy Birthday Flighty! and Nikki’s lovely one a special occasion. Thanks to you both.

There are also birthday wishes on the Allotments 4 All forum, and elsewhere, which I shall acknowledge later on.

After several days of mostly damp, dull weather it’s a nice morning here but I won’t be off to the plot until after lunch as I’m expecting a couple of gardening books in the post, which I’m hoping might arrive today. They’re not presents, and I’ll tell you more about them in a forthcoming post.

Aster pringlei 'Monte Cassino'At the plot I’ll look to see if either of the two nerine buds have opened, although I’ll be surprised if they have.  Last year there were a handful.

There’s also this terrific aster pringlei Monte Cassino, which has started flowering this week. I call it Twinkling Stars.

'Twinkling stars'

This is JodyI might also meet Jody, a lovely little dog, who plot neighbour John occasionally looks after during the week.  Here she is standing placidly by my feet.

Have a good weekend!

  12. Firstly……A Very Happy Birthday to you !!!!
I was looking at your Nerines, and now we know what the “strange” looking flower was in my daughter’s garden. It came in the bag of bird seed !!! Are their seeds easy to collect when they are done flowering ?? Also your asters have very similar flowers to our Michaelmas daisies, are they the same? except that ours are much taller ! Have a great rest of the birthday day, Flighty 🙂

    • Flighty says:

Cath thanks. I know that you can grow nerines from seed but it’s better to buy bulbs in late summer when they should be planted. There are lots of different Michaelmas daisy varieties so I really don’t know. These have ‘fern’ like, rather than proper, leaves and flower late October/ early November. I did. xx

There’s nothing like having the warmth of a contented little dog at your feet. There’s something very cosy and comforting about it.

Your daisies are perky. A metaphor perhaps for the birthday boy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.
xx and an extra xx + hug. 🙂

  14. Caro says:
