I think that is particularly true at this time of year when we’re waiting to see if the various flowers and vegetables that we’ve recently planted or sown have started growing.
One of the first things that I do on arriving at the plot is look round to see what has and last week I was pleased to see the broad beans Witkiem Manita appearing. Now that they have I can weed round them, and fill in any gaps.
The onion sets have also started growing so I can the same with them sometime during the week.
I was plotting every day again except yesterday, when it was chilly and showery, and it’s now almost reached the stage where most of plotting I’ll be doing over the next couple of weeks is just weeding.
One of the most delightful things for me last week were the yellow tulips.

I agree entirely with W.E. Johns sentiments – just going into the greenhouse every morning to see what is going on gives me a little thrill. I seem to have chosen yellow tulips this year as well – though I can’t remember doing so – oh dear – another senior moment. Have a good week.

Your yellow tulips are grand! I am curious to see if they turn orange as they mature. The solid block of yellow shows them off to their best advantage. Very handsome! : )

Yep, the anticipation is definitely one of the best bits about gardening. I like to do a quick tour of the garden every morning. My Broad Beans are looking particularly good right now – some of them are Witkiem Manita, like yours. I had some of them last year, and they did very well. I had good germination rates to – 28 out of 30 for the Manita, though one of those that did germinate was a blind.

Mark sounds good to me. I’ve always found Witkiem Manita to be a good variety, with a generally good germination rate. Let’s hope that we do well with them this year. Cheers.

Great shot of yellow tulips. Flighty that camera handles yellows very nicely. I only get to visit my plot when I am over in that area as it is 5 miles away, still great when I open the gate though and walk through.

The tulips are beauties, I love yellow flowers. It’s nice be able to get to the plot regularly, let’s hope the weather hold out so that we can get lots of plot visits in this year.

I love those yellow tulips! I saw a bouquet of similar ones in a local store and bought them to brighten up my apartment. They sure did!

In some ways anticipation is always better than reaching the actual goal. Often thought that about holidays. 😉 It is such an exciting time and it’s great to see sign of life on your plot. I’m not normally a fan of yellow but I do love those tulips – a buttery kind of yellow. Lovely! WW x

How lovely to be caught up with everything. That rotten start to spring hasn’t really held us back that much has it? Such pretty tulips, and so many of them. I always think they look better en masse.

It’s great when the plants appear but they are always surrounded by weeds aren’t they. My poor carrots are hidden amongst thousands of weeds and the weeds seem to grow that must faster…..
