Sidetracked

I would normally have done a draft of today’s intended post yesterday evening but I was twice interrupted by long phone calls. That in turn has meant that I’ve not been, or won’t be, able to do it today either.

Please take a look at my Sunshine Award post over on Sofa flying, which I did on Tuesday, in which you’ll find out what some of my favourites are.

It’s been mostly dull and damp here today but the forecast is looking much better for tomorrow, over the weekend and into next week. Mind you the temperature is set to dip into single figures centigrade tonight!

My local horticultural society’s annual show is being held on Saturday which I’m looking forward to. I will be stewarding as usual, and although it will be a long, tiring day it should also be an enjoyable one.

Have a good weekend!

Interested to read your answers. I heard the words ‘rural frost’ uttered last night on the weather forecast. It was for Scotland but even so I would like to know where this Indian summer is. Had to wear layers at the plot today, that wind was quite chilly.

    • Flighty says:

Welly’ thanks. Unfortunately the downside to bright, sunny days at this time of year is chilly nights. Like you I’m wondering about the Indian summer. The wind is another problem isn’t it! xx

  2. Changed into warm clothes because the wind got up. Grew far too hot. Came back and changed into summer ones. Enjoy the society’s show.

Personally I blame it all on my wife Judi, the weather went downhill four years ago the moment she retired, I am at present looking for a job for her in the hope that next years summer will be better

We’ve had a couple of damp, dismal days but I’m hoping that it improves over the next few days. I’ve heard of lots of local shows being held this weekend, it must be a popular date for them. My own local show is on Saturday but I don’t think I’ll be able to attend this year. Hope you enjoy yours.

    • Flighty says:

Jo it’s still very variable here. Yes most shows are held around now. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend mine either this year due to last minute problems. xx

We’re on holiday next week so I hope the weather gets a bit warmer for us – it can be pretty chilly on the east coast. It doesn’t seem five minutes since you were telling us about last years show – time really does fly as you get older, doesn’t it.

The British weather seems to get worse each year! Good luck at the show – I hope it’s a dry, sunny day for you x

    • Flighty says:

Jan it certainly seems to be far more unsettled, and at times rather extreme. Thanks but last minute problems meant that I couldn’t attend sadly. It’s held indoors so thankfully the weather is much of a problem. xx

  7. There was a definite chill in the wind today, and yes our temps are suppose to dip too tonight….Indian summer how are ya…! And dark by 8.30.pm. now too!
Good Luck at your show, Flighty 🙂

    • Flighty says:

Cath noticeably autumnal isn’t it. Fingers crossed that we still get an Indian summer. Thanks, but unfortunately I had to forego the show at the last minute. xx

I can vouch for dropped temperatures last night. I was away from home and in the early hours felt the chill. I heard someone say that at 4am the temperature was registering 4 degrees Celsius. In the Great Glen I believe is dipped to -2. What joy. Roll on summer!!!!!

Sorry you couldn’t make the show but maybe the weather will hold up and you’ll get to the plot next week. Lovely sunflowers. We’re cooling down a bit from 100F to low 90s. Cats are much happier and so are the humans.

    • Flighty says:

Nikki thanks, and yes the weather looks set to be sunny and warm all week. That’s all way too hot for me. I’m not not surprised that they and you all are. xx

  10. It was certainly on the chilly side, wasn’t it. I was glad to have the heat return yesterday, I am not quite ready for winter.
