It’s a dog’s life!

I’ve always enjoyed dog blogs but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen any. Jenny’s Paddy does an occasional post on her blog, Jo’s Archie regularly gets mentioned in her blog Through The Keyhole and we’re all entertained by Uphilldowndale’s Spud every Sunday.

Last week I came across Carlie’s Diary which is a delightful dog blog. Over on Sofa flying I did this post about her, and she’s now a sofa flyer there. I thought that was better than being a lawn lounger here where she might be tempted to chase butterflies round the plot!

I’ve never owned a dog as our family have always preferred cats. However I do like them and been lucky enough to have known many wonderful dogs.

My apologies to cat lovers, including Alison and Nikki, but I will do a cat post sometime in the near future.

Have a good weekend!

Thanks for the mention. I really enjoyed reading through Carlie’s Diary so thank you for bringing it to my attention. We’re cat lovers too, though my son has now developed an allergy to them. We had a cat from when he was born right up till a few years ago and he never had any symptoms, but he only has to stroke a cat now and he’s gasping for breath. It’s a shame as we’d love another cat, but it’s probably just as well as I’m sure Archie wouldn’t like sharing his family’s attention with a cat.

    • Flighty says:

Jo you’re welcome! Me too, so I’m glad that I found and shared it. I sympathise as my niece had that that problem which was so bad they had to give the cat away. It sounds like Archie likes being ‘top dog’! xx

No apologies necessary, Flighty πŸ˜‰ I love dogs, too! Used to have a blond Cocker Spaniel who was sweet but veeeeerrrry possessive of his toys. He was about seven when I moved from home and he stayed with my parents. My dad spoiled him even though he was against getting him in the first place. (Isn’t that the way?) The dog was dog-napped from my parents’ home about a year later and was found by a teacher at a neighborhood school. So I took him to live with me, though by this time, I had Nikki the cat. So began a period of time-sharing the house and gardens in an effort to keep the animals apart. Over the winter, however, they began a tentative truce and lived together relatively peacefully.
Carlie’s blog is delightful – thanks for linking up.

    • Flighty says:

Nikki what a lovely story! I don’t think that you’ve ever mentioned dogs so I just presumed, wrongly as it turns out.
It sure is, and glad you like it! xx

  3. Glo says:

What a cutie Carlie is! I’ve had quite a few dogs over the years, but none since my boys grew up. Dogs’ eyes are so expressive and their antics usually entertaining.

BTW, when I put in my email address on ‘leave a reply’, my birdnoggin site came us, so I left it as is! I’ll have to add to that blog that I’d almost forgotten!

    • Flighty says:

Glo she sure is! Some of them do have that ‘look’ don’t they, and they certainly are.
I’ve changed the link to your regular blog, and deleted your other comment! xx

  4. Doris says:

Isn’t Carlie a sweetheart!? Thanks for the link.

  5. Jenny Aspin says:

Thanks for the mention, Flighty. I really, really, really like cats but Jenny won’t let me have any. (:

  6. Carlie says:

Thank you so much everybody, and especially to Flightly for pointing to my blog! I am so flattered πŸ™‚

But what’s that about your family preferring CATS…?? I really don’t understand how that can be. There is a ginger cat next door to us, with gorgeous fluffy fur. She is so pretty and looks so playful and although she’s a little bit bigger than me, whenever we meet outside I always go up to her and try to make friends. But we only get as far as sniffing noses, then she puts her paw out at me and spits. I think that’s most unsociable!

So how can your family prefer CATS over us friendly and loyal dogs? (Although I have heard new mum say that cats are much less troublesome but I don’t think that had anything to do with me…)

    • Flighty says:

Carlie hello, and thanks for the thanks which we all appreciate!
Cats can be a bit hissy like that even with us humans. I must say that I like cats and dogs, but sadly we’ve never had any of the later as no one has ever been at home to keep them company or take them for a walk during the day.
I know, and that’s why a dog is said to be a man’s best friend and rightly so.
Mum’s blog has now been added to the lawn loungers list here. xx

    Flighty

New computer delivered and nearly up and running. Got lots of catching up to do

I am a cat lover, but can do dogs with no problems at all.

    What a year for roses

  8. Flighty says:

Mavis hello, that’s good news. You sure have!
    That’s nice to know.
Yes indeed a brilliant year for them! xx

  9. Just catching up with this post, Flighty: I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and can add that my son has ALWAYS wanted a dog (there’s something so right about a boy and his dog together, isn’t there?) but the flats where we live have a strict No Dogs policy! (And I’m used to living without as my family travelled a lot with the Fleet Air Arm.) My niece’s daughter can’t go near cats or guinea pigs, due to an allergy, but a perfect solution was found when they started keeping chickens; they make wonderful pets AND lay a good breakfast! Caro xx

    • Flighty says:

Caro it’s always worth reading comments as I think of them as the icing on the cake! It’s a shame when people who want a dog can’t have one for whatever reason. The same when people can’t have a cat due to allergies. I like the chicken solution! xx

  10. alison says:

hi flighty, i love dogs too and we have a dog, i don’t post many pictures of her because she has skin/fur problem, so it’s kind of embarrassing to her, i keep her low profile to show respect.

carlie is so adorable! those eyes just melts anyone’s heart away.

    • Flighty says:

Alison hello! Good for you doing that. I think that we should like both but of course some people like one but not the other.
She sure is, and they sure do! xx

  11. daffy says:

Dogz rule! Down with catz! I remember Callie Raglan…. going deep into the past again Flighty! Thank you for the links. xx
