It’s been a while…

since I last did a post about gardening and wildlife TV programmes.

This evening sees the start of a new four part series The Animal’s Guide to Britain in which Chris Packham examines modern Britain from an animal’s point of view. Tonight’s programme on BBC 2 at 8.00pm is about freshwater creatures featuring ospreys in the Highlands, white-faced darter dragonflies, black water voles and brown trout.

I’ve been watching, and mostly enjoying, the new series of Gardeners’ World which continues tomorrow on BBC2 at 8.30pm with Monty Don recommending wild flowers that grow well in gardens, whilst Carol Klein meets a daffodil breeder.

Following that on BBC2 at 9.00pm is Monty Don’s Italian Gardens which is a new four part series on some of the world’s most spectacular and extravagant gardens.

Have a good weekend!

  1. Hello Flighty! Thanks for the heads up on tomorrow night’s Gardener’s World. It sounds very promising. I often miss it as I generally don’t turn the tv on until gone 9 pm, if it goes on at all, then I realise all too late what I’ve missed. I’ve found myself coming in from the veg patch when it’s almost too dark to do anything except water (around 8.45 pm) and by then I just want a nice hot bath! Caro xx

Caro it’s a very relaxing half hour programme nowadays. I’m not surprised as at this busy time of year we all want to be out there making the most of the light and good weather! xx

Ooh, those Italian gardens sound wonderful. Enjoy your programs and (hopefully) a sunny weekend.

I have mixed feelings about Gardener’s World these days. Love Monty but Carol irritates me 🙂 Hey Ho! It wouldn’t do if we all liked the same things.
    Have a good weekend.

I’m enjoying seeing Monty’s garden on Gardener’s World. He also writes in Gardener’s World magazine and this month he wrote about a patch he’s set aside for vegetable growing. The format of the programme is much better this series.
