Some very wet days, and being busy elsewhere, has meant that I’ve only been been on the plot twice in the past fortnight. Mind you there’s not really much that I need to do now except some general plotting and tidying up.
I was there on Wednesday morning in the drizzle and picked what were probably the last of the blackberries, runner beans and yellow tomatoes. That just leaves some leeks and a couple of, now somewhat large, courgettes still to come in the vegetable areas. Other than that it’s now looking rather bare and end of seasonish!
Thankfully there are still plenty of flowers providing some welcome colour like this lovely sunflower Pastiche

and positively hot red nasturtiums
I’ve even been managing to pick a few sweet peas at long last but this year they’ve really been nothing to write home about sadly. Hopefully next year they’ll be much better!

I think my plot will be stood under a foot of rainwater after the rain we’ve had today. It’s nice to see that there’s still plenty of blooms out though.

Goodness, Flighty. That first shot looks like a painting. I love how the orange radiates out and makes the image seem almost 3D. I’m jealous of the rains you are having. Hope you’ll get a few more days of sun here and there before fall/winter temps roll in in earnest.

I thought the first photo looked like a painting too! It is just lovely! I just returned from a trip to the country where sunflowers abounded and I ate wonderful meals of organic vegetables from the garden at the auberge where I stayed. What a treat!!

I’m in agreement with the other comments re the picture perfect sunflower ~ just pops out of the screen 🙂 I like the word ‘seasonish”, although it sounds like I’ve had a ‘few’ when I say it out loud 😉
Nice to know there is not much to do on the plot, and that you are keeping up with it all.

You have had some great yellow and orange and red flowers posted this year for someone who likes blue flowers! I assume your courgettes are what I know as vegetable marrow (or zucchini squash that has got out of hand here in the States). Friends brought me some whopper marrows this summer. My mother always cut them horizontally and stuffed with mince, or cubed and boiled them and covered with bechamel. I cut mine across, about 2-3″ in height, scooped out the seeds, brushed with olive oil, seasoned and baked them for about 30 minutes and then filled with all sorts of different things. They were delicious and brought back memories of those escape artists from the vegetable patch!

Liz I like plenty of colour. Yes, what we call cougettes you call zucchini. I’m not keen on them so if I do grow them I end up giving them away. They also need a lot of space, which is always limited on my small plot. xx
