Whatever the weather!

Sometimes it is said that the English language is difficult to learn and this verse with its same-sounding words, or homonyms, proves the point.

This clever verse is a tongue twister and its date and author are unknown.

Whether the weather be fine,

Or whether the weather  be not,

Whether the weather be cold,

Or whether the weather be hot,

We’ll whether the weather

Whatever the weather,

Whether we like it or not!

Have a good weekend…whatever the weather!

We used to have great fun with tongue twisters when I was young, some quite naughty ones too, I have to admit. I think it’s going to be a case of whethering the weather this weekend, it’s grey, damp and miserable here today.

  2. daffy says:

There was a fisherman named Fisher
who fished for some fish in a fissure.
Till a fish with a grin,
    pulled the fisherman in.
Now they’re fishing the fissure for Fisher.
    Good morning!
Well whatever the weather, you can’t erase the smile your little ditty has just spread over my face!
You have a great weekend too.
(damp, foggy, gloomy and a little bit miserable here today!)

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

He’d chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could
if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

How did I know Daffy would come up with more ditties? The weather’s likely to be rainy here, Flighty. And we couldn’t be happier 🙂 Hills are greening up, and the seeds I planted are loving it. Good weekend to you.

Nikki I would have been surprised if Daffy hadn’t!
It’s raining here again, which we can well do without. Good to know that you’ve some on the way though, and that your seeds are doing well.
      Thanks, and to you! xx

  6. daffy says:

    I’m not the pheasant plucker,
    I’m the pheasant plucker’s mate.
    I’m only plucking pheasants
    ‘Cause the pheasant plucker’s late.

    I couldn’t resist it…..sorry… forgive me! hahaha

  7. VP says:

Reminds me of The Phantom Tollbooth which had lots of different plays on words. Lots of fun.

    Have a good weekend 🙂

Without a doubt, a classic. xx

‘An allotment plot is used to produce produce’ – I see what you mean! You sound all Titchmarsh-esque with Whatever the Weather! I managed quite a few hours outside in the garden today. x
