is my allotment, a half plot measuring about 28 by 56 feet. The short sides face north and south, with the latter abutting the other half plot.
Once cleared it will be bare with no shrubs or trees. In the north-west corner is a pile of timber, and assorted items, most of which I should be able to use but it will be moving as I think that’s where I going to have a rockery.
I’m hoping to grow lots of flowers
, a shrub or two, soft fruit like raspberries and some vegetables.
There will be a wild area, a small pond and a bird feeder to encourage the wildlife.
I will have a (sort of) shed, an area to relax, a cold frame and a compost heap.
Hopefully I will be doing about two hours a couple of days a week plus maybe an hour some other days just pottering.
Entries here will, I hope, be weekly charting my progress and include photos, such as this one showing Plot 124 before I started ![]()
Happy digging…Flighty

That ‘lot’ should keep you busy Flighty !!!!
I guess you have a table covered with sketches of various plots, multiple beds, parallel rows etc… great stuff !!!
What veg are you planning ?? The usual spuds, onions (competition size maybe?) carrots etc, or maybe something more esoteric?
More power to your spade Flighty !!!

Steve I guess that it will!
I keep doodling on sheets of A4, and every day I’ve come up with something different.
As it’s only me I won’t be growing a lot of vegetables, and being a bit of a minimalist definitely nothing competition size. I’m reading up on the subject, and may well go for the esoteric.
Thanks, I actually acquired a spade today!

You should post some of your doodling, too, Flighty - I love to see plans in progress. Where is the entrance to your plot?

Nikki once I’ve cleared the plot and got some slightly more definite ideas I may well do that.
I’ll take some more photos, hopefully on Sunday showing the site and my plot which should give you a clearer idea.

This is super news Mr F. When did you get to hear of the birth of your allotment. The soft fruits will be lovely when you have them.

Menhir hello! It’s very nice of you to stop by.
It was agreed by email a couple of weeks ago, with official paperwork to follow.
I do so like blackberries and raspberries that I must have a go at growing them.

My uncle has an allotment too and he grows everything! I can’t remember what exactly but mostly veggies. Aubergine, squash/courgettes, beans, onions, and so on…Thanks for including this link in your usual post, makes it easy to drop by.

Arty hello! I’m still pondering on just what to grow, but it will be more flowers than vegetables. You know me and links!
