This morning was the horticultural society’s Christmas party, which was held at the trading shed. It was all very traditional with crackers, funny hats, lights, tinsel, mince pies, sausage rolls, mulled wine and seasonal songs.
I vacated my usual tea making corner and found a quiet spot down the other end where I enjoyed chatting, drinking and eating. I didn’t win anything on the raffle this year.
I heard someone mutter there’s always one when a member came in to buy six bags of horse manure!
I’ll be back there tomorrow morning helping with the annual stock take. It’ll then be closed through to Sunday, 6th January when, if we get delivery as promised during the week beforehand, the onion sets and seed potatoes will be on sale. One of my first jobs will be to start sorting out a flowers and vegetables seed order.
Have a good week!

Glad you had a nice time and I can’t wait to start planting asap too
Cath thanks, and me too. xx
Glad you enjoyed the party. It sounds as though someone’s busy on their plot, I think mine will be left now until the new year.
Jo thanks. We did wonder what he was going to do with it. Same here. xx
Ah mulled wine that always goes down well
David I didn’t drink any but it was obviously enjoyed by those who did. Cheers.
It’s lovely to think of all the things we can plant next spring.
Your party sounded lovely, mmmmmmmmm oh yes! Mulled wine, I love the stuff.xxxxx
Snowbird it sure is. It was a most enjoyable morning. xx
It sounds like a lovely place to socialise, Flighty.
Jenny it’s the people more than the place that make so enjoyable. xx
Sounds like a fun time — enjoyed with like-minded friends.
Nikki it was indeed. xx
Glad you and your gardening friends enjoyed the party it doesn’t seem like 5 minutes since you were telling us about the last one – how time flies!
Elaine thanks, we all said how quick it seems to come round again. xx
It sounds like you had a good time.
Joanne I did indeed. xx
aww your allotments sound heavenly, we are just too big to do a lovely party and have a trade shop. So glad you had a nice time, though I would demand a re-draw for the raffle
Love and hugs xxxx
Carrie thanks, allotments do have a special appeal don’t they. It’s the first year that I didn’t win anything. Thanks. xx
Sounds like a great idea having a bit of a Christmas do. You all sound very organised. I need to sit down and get my seed order sorted out too, hopefully during a quiet spell over Christmas.
Welly it’s mostly committee members, shed helpers and regular customers who go. Mmm I’d like to think so! It’s a good time to do a seed order. xx
The mental picture of sipping mulled wine, nibbling mince pies, and crooning seasonal songs in your trading shed, is delightful.
Do have a beautiful Xmas and I truly wish you a healthy and happy 2013, my friend.XX
Menhir many thanks for your thoughtful sentiments, and I wish you the same. xx
