Just before I came home from the plot yesterday morning I picked the first handful each of raspberries and strawberries. There are plenty more to follow by the look of it.
I had them for afters as they were with a dusting of demerara sugar. They were delicious, especially the raspberries which I prefer.
At home flowers are just starting to appear on my Red Robin tomatoes so now I’ll be watering them with a liquid feed.
I forgot to mention on Sunday that yesterday was the start of National Insect Week 2012.
Happy gardening!

Beautiful! I prefer raspberries too! But we can’t get them here! We can get strawberries but nothing like home-grown ones from home. I did make some jam with them though…and I have some seeds so I can try growing them here next winter! Everything is backward here!!! Enjoy!
Ann thanks. It’s a shame that you can’t get raspberries there especially as you like them. I know of others who live elsewhere who have similar problems. xx
I’ll just have to wait until I’m back in the UK in autumn and hopefully there might be some around then!
Ann fingers crossed that there will be! xx
Your raspberries look luscious,Flighty. Mine must be autumn ones so because there is ne’re a flower to be seen yet ! We (and many grandkids ) have been enjoying strawberries for a while now, as have the local population of ANTS !
Cath they tasted as good as look. I’ve got a mix of summer and autumn ones. It’s a nuisance that we have to share strawberries with the wildlife. xx
Strawberries over raspberries for me every time. I too have picked the first few over the last few days, delicious they were too. Your tomatoes are ahead of mine, they’re growing so slowly this year and there isn’t a hint of any flowers yet.
Jo fair enough. My two window sill tomatoes are way better than the plot ones which are looking too good at all. xx
Picking loads of strawbs at the moment, Flighty. We’ve loss quite a few to fungal problems – all this wet weather and slugs, ditto but still have more than enough. No rasps yet but picked the first few tayberries today, yey!! And blackcurrants are enormous and slowly turning black. Already planning a summer fruit pudding.
Welly it seems that most of us are. Fungal problems are not surprising with the weather we’ve had.
A summer fruit pudding sounds rather delicious. xx
I picked a handful of raspberrys yesterday too, mine were a variety called All Gold a yellow early summer cropper, they were very tasty.
Stacy they’re a good variety so I’m not surprised that you liked them.
They look good and sweet!
Nikki they tasted as good as they looked. xx
My mouth is watering!
Doris so was mine! xx
The Raspberries look beautiful!! So do the strawberries! Hope there are more where they came from!
xx
Sarah hello, I’ve been picking, and eating, some of each every day. xx
