BBC2′s long running wildlife documentary programmes starts a welcome new series this evening at 8.00pm.
Echo – An Unforgettable Elephant is all about one of the most famous elephants in the world who sadly died last year at the grand age of 65. It is an optimistic film about her families future, but be warned there are some hard and vivid lessons about death that may distress younger children.
The programme is being repeated on Sunday, again on BBC2, at 6.00pm.
I know that for Daffy, and many others, elephants are their favourite animals so here’s a delightful calf born at Chester Zoo just a few weeks ago, and how about this endearing youngster!
Have a good weekend!

I hadn’t heard about the birth of the Nayan at Chester Zoo. Thanks so much Flighty for the link to Zoo Borns, its such a lovely website. I’m so excited, as I’ve been able to catch up with the progress of Luk Chai, a baby elephant calf we saw at Tarango Zoo in Sydney at the end of last year. x
Louise I’m glad that like ZooBorns , which as you say is a lovely site. It’s great that you can do that, and I still marvel at the fact that we can do such things as we do. xx
Great links, Flighty. Baby elephants really are endearing
Griselda thanks! Yes they most certainly are. xx
I’ve always had a soft spot for elephants after seeing so many of them on safari in Kenya. And the baby calf is very cute!
Damo I’m not surprised as it must be wonderful to see them in the wild. He sure is!
