on the plot was the perfect way to spend a sunny Sunday morning. Mind you most of it was spent doing some much needed weeding!
I concentrated on the soft fruit area. I also cut the original raspberry canes back to the ground whilst leaving the new growth alone. Rach over on The Big Sofa had been seeking advice on this during last week, and I could understand her hesitation when I did mine.
The strawberries are putting out lots of runners, and there is plenty of fruit forming on the blackberries.
I’ve had several lots of onions, beetroot and lettuce
I feel a bit guilty about the beetroot as the seed came from Mildew who sadly has had problems with hers!
The bees love my Poached Egg Plants
The Valentine Heart rose has masses of buds on it , whilst the Pretty Lady continues to produce some lovely looking blooms
It’s pleasing to see butterflies fluttering around the plot even if they are just white ones as I photographed last week, and especially as Louise mentions, over on her gardening blog, that it’s Save Our Butterflies Week.

What a gorgeous looking rose! Sounds like a productive time at the plot and being able to have a bit of a harvest and see such beauty as roses, butterflies and the like, makes it all worthwhile, I’m sure. When I clicked on your onions (that sounds a bit funny
, a larger photo didn’t appear. I’m in the midst of sorting through clothes etc. and doing a general clean-up for some reason and needed a break, so here I am!

Olivia I’m so glad that you like it! xx

Glo it is indeed! Yes I had a good morning.
Sorry about the images but I had problems uploading them and now as you say they don’t enlarge. I’ll leave it until tomorrow then reload them if it’s still the same. xx

No problem with the photos now

Glo thanks, I’ll delete the footnote. xx

have always loved the poached-egg plant…but once it gets into the garden…it never disappears!

Poached egg plant? Never heard of that one but it looks lovely.

Thank you so much for the mention Flighty. Yesterday was a funny sort of day, it started really well and then later on the clouds rolled in. Today looks promising for lawn lounging, well that’s if I had a lawn! A lot happening on the allotment at the moment, what a beautiful rose. x

Irishpisky I’m not surprised. That’s because it’s one of the most free-flowering annuals there is!
Flighty // July 21, 2008 at 8:26 am |
Jennyta it’s offered in most seed catalogues but is rarely seen growing in gardens, which is a shame as it is such a beautiful little plant. xx

Looking good Flighty! Having had so much brilliant advice re: raspberries this year, I think I am going to embark on Project Strawberry next year, any advice you have to throw my way would be appreciated!

Louise you’re welcome! That’s so often the way isn’t it. All this week is looking promising, fingers crossed.
As you say there’s lots happening. xx

Rach thanks! I’m not that keen on strawberries, and I actually lost the first lot of plants I had. However these ones produced some fruit just a few weeks after planting them, and are looking good. I’ll certainly do that for you! xx

ok I admit it! I haven’t read this but the rose is beautiful. I had some mystery flowers I was going to ask you about but my dad in law tells me they are petunias. (?) Next year, the entire garden will have petunias as the rabbits don’t like them!
)
Look after yourself for the next couple of weeks and don’t let that Glo or Nikki lead you astray!

Love beets. Do you grow golden beets too? I often look for them in the store but they are hard to find. Hey—that pink rose is just gorgeous! A couple of hours on the plot sounds just the thing.

Daffy I’ll let you off this time as you’ve far more important things on your mind!
Thanks I will, and I’m sure they won’t!
Have a lovely holiday. xx

Beginning so do I. I will next year, and I remember Nikki mentioning them last year.
Isn’t it! It certainly was that. xx

What a lovely looking rose! I must behave, ordered too many already for this autumn planting ^_^
Flighty // July 29, 2008 at 9:22 am |
Sinta hello and thanks! It’s supposed to have a nice scent as well but if it does then I can’t smell it.
I think that all rose lovers have the same problem.
I’m trying to decide which yellow one to get from such a long list! Take care! xx
