Flighty’s plot

The pond

March 25, 2008 · 12 Comments

Having spent most of yesterday indoors sofa flying with a good book, along with lots of cups of tea and too many biscuits I needed to get out today.

As it was dry, although cold and windy, I went to the allotment this morning to have a look round as usual. I ended up moving the pond, as I’ve never really been happy with where I’d put it. I’ve only moved it a foot so that it now partly nestles next to a clump of grass dscn0059.jpg which I feel is a much better place, being far less obvious.

I then lighty forked over the wild flower area, which has the pond at one end and the log pile dscn0061.jpg at the other, with the recovering globe artichoke in front of it.

As I put things away in the shed I’m reminded by my small collection of flowers dscn0064.jpg of sunny days to come!

I too have been out in the garden today - a spot of pruning and tidying up - hurrah! Feels good doesn’t it?

    VP good for you!
The plot is exposed so it was slightly chilly with the cold wind but all worthwhile.
    It does indeed! xx

Yes, yes, yes, those sunny days will come! And all the rainy ones will have paid off!

Well the sunny days seem a million miles away at the moment! My windscreen washers have been frozen up all day long!
I do like the pond, it makes me smile when I see it.

Nikki I’ll take your word for it as the rest of the week looks like being milder but wet! xx

Daffy they do rather! That’s cold, and I thought that it was chilly here.
Is that because it’s an old washing up bowl? I think that it’s a good way of recycling it! xx

Brrr, iiiit was chilllyyyyy todayyyy. What is the deal with that, you can’t get milder without rain tagging along. Last night I told my mum that God had parked the British Isles in the wrong spot.

LOL@daffy’s comment about her windshield washers.

    xx

Liv yes it was thanks to the wind. Without that it wouldn’t have been too bad.
That’s the way it is, and you have to expect plenty of rain at this time of year. It could always be a lot worse!
I always get such a vivid image from Daffy’s descriptions! xx

I have a picture in my head of this little frog who was so excited to find a pond ~ and then did a lot of head twitching…thinking, “I’m sure it was here a minute ago…” Since it’s only been moved a foot, just a hop, skip and jump, I’m sure the pond will be found!

Thanks to your suggestion, I have started a blog! I am quite excited and hopefully will be able to find it again.. :)

Glo that image does make me smile! I’m pretty sure that nothing much had used it so far, but I have hopes for the future.
You’re welcome. I do hope that you enjoy yourself. In case you can’t find it, or for anyone else who wants to take a look, its http://porcelainrose-glo.blogspot.com/
I’ve also added you to my Lawn Loungers list as a favourite blog! xx

I must make one of these ponds this year, I have been meaning to for ages. Have the frogs found yours yet? Good idea to move it, the wildlife settling there will love the shade! x

Louise it was at the top of my list of must have plot features.
Possibly, keep an eye out for an entry I’ll be doing in a day or two!
It never looked quite right where it was. xx
